Education
The foundations group teaches the more abstract and mathematically oriented topics in computer science. The teachers have a common interest in the theory behind computers and the foundations of computer science. Mathematical methods and models play a profound role in computer science research as they provide a good level of abstraction for studying concrete phenomena in computing. Hence we believe that the topics we teach are of great interest to future researchers. But also for students that will not work in research, a more abstract (mathematical) view of computer science is very profitable in their future career.
